Funding at risk for Minnesota’s environment

Minnesotans overwhelmingly support conservation, restoration and enhancement of our lakes, rivers, streams, prairies and forests. That is especially clear from 2008’s overwhelming vote in favor of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.

Unfortunately, valuable funding to protect, restore and enhance Minnesota’s natural lands and waters is at risk this legislative session. The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota’s Resources (LCCMR) and the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council (LSOHC) have made their funding recommendations to the legislature, and we need those packages to be passed as recommended!

The packages are at risk of being amended on the House floor, resulting in less funding that is critical for Minnesota’s environment.

The LCCMR and the LSOHC both provided science-based, on-the-ground, balanced funding recommendation packages that propose to restore and enhance our habitat and strategically acquire natural lands and waters to protect our valuable resources.
